Most Artistic Checkmate #1

Recently at one of the schools in which I give chess lessons, round one of our class tournament was in progress and the game between Sophie Choi (1222 SDC rating) and Laura Becket (1001 SDC rating) ended quickly when Laura (still yawning and waking up 100% for the early morning class) forgot to castle her king and didn’t bring her pieces out quickly enough…

Sophie quickly opened the f-file and launched an attack on the exposed  black king, quickly winning a piece and then delivering the following very artistic checkmate.

Choi (1222) – Becket (1001)

White pieces combine beautifully to give checkmate in this game and so it is my chosen game for Most Artistic Checkmate #1

Well done to both girls for creating such a position!  Applause
